Artist Notes
'Dead Subjects’ is a sculpture that considers the nature of mortality in online space. The work functions something like a self-portrait made from subject lines in my Spam inbox. The work was prefaced by the idea that once I die, my Spam inbox will continue living and accumulating emails in my death. The work takes a tragicomic view to mortality in the digital age that highlights the irony and ridiculousness of living online, where everything from our proudest moments to most secret and private fetishes is stored in our algorithm to live on after we die.
